How do I prepare my hair for my appointment?

What is the difference between a trim and a cut?

Under half an inch is a trim. New shapes and layers are classed as a cut.

I’ve never had a curly hair cut, how does it work?


We will firstly spend a short time accessing and discussing your hair history, present condition, and future plans.


Cut & Style

I will cut your hair dry which will be followed by a relaxing shampoo, condition and curly diffuse blow dry.

I will then finish off defining and shaping your hair to the preferred style.


Products & Advice

I will give you advice throughout your appointment to ensure you get the best out of your beautiful curls post cut!

Do you only cut curly hair?

No, I cut all hair types. For a full list of services click here.

I want my haircut exactly like x, y or z?

You may wish to present photos of the type of style you are trying to achieve.

But please note, it is not always possible to achieve replicas of hairstyles. Curly hair is very diverse and some looks may have been achieved via curly hair extensions, rods or heat.

I have pre-cut nerves. Help!

I completely understand if you feel nervous or overwhelmed before or during your appointment. Feel free to speak up and ask questions before or during your appointment.

Do you offer consultations?

Yes, we offer consultations for bridal and colour services.

What products do you stock in your salon?

We currently stock products from Boucléme, Innersense, Trepadora, Uncle Funky’s Daughter, Olaplex & Tangle Teezer and more…

Do you follow the curly girl method?

No, however, the products we use can be used in conjunction with the Curly Girl method. Please note hair will need to be shampooed before and during your service.

I don't see any available appointments?

We may be fully booked, appointments are released in 3-month blocks. Please continue to check for any openings that may become available due to self-move/cancel.

Can I make an appointment in advance?

Appointments are only available 3 months in advance when booking online, appointments beyond this date can only be made for special circumstances such as weddings, event etc… Give us a call and we will see what we can do.

Do you have a waitlist?

Please note last-minute appointments are released on Instagram or TikTok on a first-come, first-served basis.

I want to reschedule/cancel my appointment. If I cancel, will my deposit be refunded?

You can reschedule/cancel your appointment via the ‘Manage Reservations’ button in your confirmation email. Any appointment cancelled with more than 48hrs notice will be refunded in full within 3-10 working days.

How long will my appointment be?

Haircut time is about 1-3 hours depending on your length, texture and density. Appointments may be longer for long-haired clients and colour services.

What form of payments do you accept?

All major debit/credit cards or cash are accepted at the salon. For online deposits all major debit/credit cards.

Does my deposit go towards my service?

Yes, a 50% deposit reserves your appointment and will be deducted from your service fee.

I wear a hijab, burka, is their privacy available?

Yes, the salon is a safe space for those wanting privacy, if you let us know beforehand we can ensure you are accommodated. Contact us via phone, text or email.

Are you locations accessible to all?


Unfortunately, there is no wheelchair access at this location. The salon is located on the 2nd floor with no lift access. If you are unable to access the salon I do offer a home service for clients who have access issues.

What is a detangling fee?

A £10 fee applied to clients who do not follow the pre-appointment instructions for curly hair.


Do you sell gift cards?

Yes, use the online booking system or pop into the Bromley hair studio to pick up a hardcopy gift card.

Is there parking around the area?

Nearby street parking is permit-only from 10-12 pm; it’s free before and after. Alternatively, all-day pay & display parking is available directly outside the salon and at the Beckenham Spa Car Park across the road. Free on-street parking is available nearby on sections of Clock House Rd, Blackney Rd & MacKenzie Rd (5-10 min walk). Please verify the signage and charge, as regulations may change.

Are there any public transport links around the area?

Nearby train stations are Clock House (2 mins), Kent House (10 mins), & Beckenham Junction with links to central London, Brixton, Hayes, Kent and more. Multiple buses serve the stop just outside the salon including the 227, 398, 194 & 354. Finally, the Beckenham Road Tram Station is close by.

Do you accept walk-ins?

No, services are appointment only.

What is the best way to contact you?

All inquiries can be emailed directly to hi@kinsonhairstudio.com. Please only email if you have read the FAQ’s, we will answer your messages as soon as possible.

Covid-19 instructions and measures.

Clients MUST use the handwashing facilities available before entry into the main salon. All clients will need to don disposable gowns during their service.

This salon is in full compliance with the government guidelines for close contact services as stated here. All tools, chairs and doors will be cleaned in between clients with the whole salon being thoroughly cleaned daily.


Can I bring a guest to my appointment?

You are welcome to bring someone along to your appointment, please contact us if you wish to bring a child to your appointment.

I have an issue which effects my scalp/hair. Can I still book one of the services you offer?

We have dealt with clients who have a variety of issues such as post surgery scars, psoriasis, dandruff, sparsity, alopecia and female pattern baldness. If you are unsure or would like to talk about how we can accommodate you please contact us.
